My name is Chris Eyre (hence “Eyre Lines”), and I live fairly close to York (in the north of the UK, for those from elsewhere). This blog is by way of being an adjunct to my long-term posting on Compuserve’s Religion Forum, for longer things than are really appropriate there.

I retired from being a lawyer on grounds of ill health in 2005 (and am gradually recovering, though I’ve no wish to go back to that profession, assuming I could, having got on the wrong side of the law as well during my disintegration before 2005). My first degree is in Physics, though I toyed with the idea of a degree in History. I’ve been in the past an elected representative at a local level (including being Mayor of my home town), an occasional preacher and very occasionally a translator (French/English and vice versa). All of these things inform my writing about religion, as does the fact that in my mid teens I had a massively convicting spiritual experience which turned me from an evangelical atheist into – well, something entirely different.
